Hola mis amigos!!
Wow let's just say this week for the books!! It was so awesome!
I got to my new area, I am in the spanish ward echo. But 3 companionship share this one ward but there is so much work that we need 3 companionships! My companions name is elder Teuscher, he is from Gilbert Arizona and he is a total stud. Super awesome! We are super similar and work really well together!! I am really happy here, it's just a party all the time!
But now, the real question who needs sleep? Definitely not me. The day I got here we found out we have to do a training for our zone, for zone conference..... well we would normal doing 1.5 hours for each district. BUT....... this zone is really small cause we have the office elders and assistants and senior couples. So we combined the two districts. Which meant a 3 HOUR TRAINING! My comp and I spent 11 hours on Thursday planning and making a slide show. Looks like all those late nights doing homework really paid off. I really felt like I was back doing homework!
The conference actually went really well! We centered on president Gearings talk he gave before us. Super great talk! But we had great discussion and it was such a spiritual moment. We also got to meet our new mission president and his wife. President and sister Gillespie, are super awesome. I'm excited to continuing working with them!
I also got to go on exchanges with the assistants, elder Bullock is actually from NC too! Represent!! He is from ocean isle beach. I actually ate at the restaurant that he worked at. But it was super fun and we got to put a baptismal date with one of their friends. It was so cool!
Then Saturday we got to do service at the church vineyard here in California! We got to help cut and tie grape vines. Also the brother there, brother Hansen has so many cool stories and loves working with the missionaries. He let us eat so many grapes. All with different flavors like peach, passion fruit, black cherry! So good!
Then finally yesterday I had the special 21 birthday! I feel super old! But I was able to have the sacrament on my birthday with my fellow missionaries. And then I had a great rest of the day, like making a super cool video out of cake and frosting about the plan of salvation. I'll send a pic.
But something I wanted to share was a scripture we shared in zone conference.
Matthew 4:19
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
I love this scripture because it shows that Jesus Christ will make us who need to be! But we have to be humble and willing to ALLOW him to change us! If we don't allow him to change us then we cant receive the blessings he has prepared for us. I invite you all to truly allow Jesus Christ to change your heart!
Love you all,
Elder Cheney
