Hola mis Amigos!!!
On monday I officially hit my half way mark in the MTC. It is so crazy to me that I am a missionary, I feel like I just got here. Who ever says that the weeks feel like days and the days feel like weeks. There are correct. Life in the MTC is the same we have classes for 9 to 10 hours a day they range from spanish instructions to gospel topics to actually teaching.
My companion and started teaching two people, Giovani and Daniel, haha but they arent real people. They are our teachers acting as different people. But this week we were able to teach over 5 lessons all in spanish. Believe the Lord is blessing me because there is no way i could have done that two weeks ago.
Today, we were able to leave the CCM and take a bus to immigration to get our full visas. Honestly, that was the best thing ever because this compound sometimes feels like a prison. Haha but i still love it. everyone here is learning spanish so its super awesome to jsut walk down the street and just speak spanish to the Hermanas or other Elders.
Ok so one story. An elder in our district is from New Zealand and he never wears shoes and socks. So when he came he only brought two pairs of socks. For the whole mission. He has been wearing the same socks for three weeks. We went into the elders room one time and it smelled so bad. Haha he finally bought some socks at the Tienda or the store and his companions mom sent some for him but I just thought that was super funny.
OH! I also met an Hermana Cheney, which was super weird. People were like hey your a cheney. I was like yeah ok?? Then a bunch of people like pushed me toward an hermana and then we met which was super weird. Haha I would have never thought I would meet someone here with my last name. haha we found out we are like 5th cousins.
So this week my district has been talking about why we are here. We chose to study the scripture, Alam 29:9, yall should go read it
But it talks about how the lord commanded us to do this. We are here for his glory not our own. We are teaching on the lords time so we need work our hardest to learn and teach our best because we are doing this for the lord.
But Love you all,
Elder Cheney
