Hola mis Amigos!!!!!

Sorry I missed a week last week and didnt email some of you back this week has been full of emtions and full of changes.

Ok first of all my mission president is the best, but man he loves changes so much. We have the regular 6 week tranfers where regular changes happen. But the we also have transfers in the middle of regular transfers. And then sometimes there are special changes that he does whenever he wants. Haha so its sometimes a little crazy.

Ok so my first area was Chahuites, its very poor and very small but has amazing people. My house was a concrete block. The area was dirt roads and basically mango farms. Everyone there works during mango season just cutting mangos off the trees, even the kids before they go to school. In Chahuites they have these things called motos, the are little moto taxis that you can take around the city which was really nice. The other thing they had was horses and carriages. Haha I felt like a poineer when I first saw them I wish I got a picture of it. One last thing about chahuites, one family in our branch made the boxes to hold mangos, they are like insanely fast at making them. They make over 200 boxes a day, I will send a picture of that.

So on last monday we got the transfers, and we found out that they are closing one of the Chauhites areas so three of the Chahuites missionaries we leaving and the only one staying was my companion who is a zone leader, and they were bringing someone else in. So that meant we had to move our house into the other missionaries house. That was sketchy and crazy at the same time. I thought all of the stuff was going to fall out as we were driving it because there was like literally nothing holding it down.

So transfers happened and I left Chahuites on Thursday to come to my new area. My new area is called Teran, its in the Tuxtla Gutierrez Mactumatza zona. So I am in the actual city of Tuxtla, which is weird cause this looks like a city while chahuites was like a village. This area reminds me of San Fransico its so hilly here. SO we walk up hills after hills and just sweat to death because it is so hot here still, but one thing that is super nice is the afternoons get cooler so that is a blessing. My companion is Elder Macedo who is from Peru, I freaked out because my best friend is in Peru and I found out that my companion only lives 2 hours from that mission, so I lot that was cool. But him being from Peru means he only speaks spanish, so that is hard sometimes but I think it will be a blessing.

Miracles
First, my mission hit a record this month! We hit the highest number of baptisms in over 80 years! It was so cool, we called this month Marzo de Milagros, which means Miracles of March. We had 267 baptisms for this month! Which is insane!!!!! And we have a higher goal this month!

Second, in Chahuites, my companion had to go to a leadership conference in Tuxtla which meant for a day I would be in Chahuites having to teach our investigators, which a different companion. I was so scared because even thoug the other person spoke spanish I knew these people. So I used teh best spanish I could and justed talked. The gift of tongues is definitly true becuase I testified to an older lady named, Anna Maria and just said that I love this church and love the savior Jesus Christ. The best way we can show our love for him is to be baptized. I asked her to be baptized on April 20th and she said yes!!!!!

Third, yesterday we had a trizone activity. I was talking to some of the other missionaries, in spanish, and they asked me how long I have been in the mission and I told them 2ish weeks because I have only been in the field for 2 or 3 weeks. The natives like were shocked they said my spanish was really good and I could understand a lot. So I was kinda proud of that.

Love you all,
Elder Cheney
