Rain, rain, never go away. . . .
Hola Mis amaigos!
Hola Mis amaigos!
Well the rain of Tuxtla has finally come! Here in the State of Chiapas they have a 4 month rain season. So everyday until September it will probably rain, which is something I could not be more happy about. I am very weird to when its dark and gloomy outside I am full of sunshine and happiness. It reminds me of the song There is sunshine in my soul today! Haha super weird but I love it.
I am gonna start with a little sad and then work towards the happy stuff. First Antoina our little 15 year old that had a baptism date for the 18, dropped us. She sat down and said she doesnt want church anymore, she feels lonely and at church the people dont talk to her, she has problems with her family. She was crying and just letting everything our. In the end she didnt want to come to church anymore and didnt want to be baptized. We want to go back this week and just kep talking but it was super sad.
One really good this this week was we got a text from a Hermana named Karen, she is inactive. She said we want to meet with you guys this week. So we went and we met her and her husband or boyfriend and their 4 year old son. In the first 10 minutes the guy said I want to be baptized! Which was awesome!!!! He also knows like all the lessons! So when we teach him he already knows it. The only thing now is they have to get married, marriage isnt the biggest thing here in Mexico. But they are hoping for June and then he can be baptized!
So this week a member invited us and another set of missionaries to make sushi! And it was so good! I made sushi with my family like two weeks before I let for my mission so I knew how to roll the sushi. They then started to call me Elder Chinito, or Elder Chinese. But isn't sushi a Japanese thing?
Also I learned to make tortillas today. I accomplished my moms one request for my mission. So mom there ya go, I can now make tortillas.
So I have started the Book of Mormon over again, and I am back in the Book of Alma. With the story of Ammon and King Lamoni.
I have realized all of us need to be like King Lamoni, weird right? But King Lamoni was skeptical at first. But he then gave Ammon a chance. In the end King Lamoni changed his heart and desired to serve and help Ammon.
We need to be Lamoni and Ammon. We need to be a missionary and serve God. But we need to be changing our own hearts at the same time. I dont know I just thought of that and it made me realize something we need to just check and make a change if we need to.
Love you all and have a grand week
Elder Cheney
or Elder Chinito
