Hola Mis Amigos!!
I am now a part of Mexico forever. . . . .
This week was um interesting. First the title of this week, hahaha so here in Mexico I have to believe nothing is safe to drink or eat but you do it anyways and it usually makes you sick and also the sun is very powerful here. So I haven't been feeling well and it got worse. So basically after every meal which usually is only lunch because that is what we have with the members, I feel like I am going to be sick. And then we have to go back out and continue working, in the sun which is about 100 degrees right now. So one day I was like I can't do this during one of the meals. Thankfully the members don't usually eat with us they just give us food and go do work somewhere else. So I put my food on my companions plate. And told eat and let's go. So we left and I was walking ready to faint and die. So in the street I up chucked all over, and my companion is just standing there laughing because I guess it was funny. Then there were two older Mexican ladies standing near saying something about me being white and the sun is too much or something. I didn't really wait to hear what else they were saying because I was walking and being sick. But that is why I am now a part of Mexico forever.
Besides feeling sick this week was pretty good. We are still meeting with Antonia and it is going great! She is progressing really well, she is liking the church so much she is teaching her younger siblings and nephews! She came to church this week again! She also read 5 chapters in the book of Mormon without us asking! She is so freaking awesome!
So the family of 4 I was telling you about, the one that we helped move dirt for, yeah we helped them again they listened to our lessons and wanted to come to church. Haha then we learned that they really jut wanted our help with the dirt. So that was really fun.
On really sad thing, our Relief society president´s sister was killed in a car accident this week. It was super sad because she was amazing and it happened in a really horrible way. The car was thrown into a tree and her sister was thrown from the car. Super sad. We meet with the family yesterday and they are all really sad but man they have faith and strength in the church. I just shared my testimony about the plan of salvation and shared some personal stories. And they were crying I think I was crying. I was feeling the spirit. But man I love that family.
Oh other thing, it rained this week I wanted to cry because I was so happy.
This week I was studying the grace of God and Jesus Christ. And the one thing i learned is that everything in our lives is because of the grace of God, he allows us to have these lives. So our responsibility is to follow him. That scares me, becuase sometimes I think I am not doing everything I can. But the answer to that is I AM NOT!!! None of us are, we all mess up, we all have mistakes. People here in Mexico love God and want to follow him. They follow him in their afflictions and in their mistakes. Because you know what, we have the atonement for a reason. I have learned so much about how the atonement and the grace of God saves our lifes. We just have to try and when we mess up fix it and keep trying. A shout out to my parents for helping me learn more about grace.
Love you all and have a great week,
Elder Cheney
