Hola mis amigos,
How are yall doing!! I am sorry I haven't written these past two weeks, let's just say a lot has happened, but so many great things!!!
1. I got a new companion named Elder Romero from costa Rica, he is 24.
2. We had a multi zone activity with president Doman, we went to some ruins, called Chinkultic.
3. SUPER COOL!!!!! My mission is believed to be the place of where the Book of Mormon took place, but these ruins my president believes is where ABIDANDI was killed by fire!!! Its not church stated but some research he has read makes him think it is possible.
4. There are altars where they would sacrifice people, but also there was a stone that had carvings of a man being killed in flames (the people use to draw pictures on stones for time keeping purposes).
5. HELPED ELI STOP DRINKING!!!! We met with him about 4 times and talk about the word of wisdom and then about Joseph Smith but every time he was drunk. Then the next day we showed up he wasnt drinking. HE WANTS TO BE BAPTIZED!!
6. We put three more baptismal days on the calendar. Ashley was a old investigator about 2 years ago, but we met her and that day she told us she wanted to be baptized!!!!
7. So halloween or dia de muertos here in mexico, well at least in a very tiny pueblo not much happens except a lot of people leave. And for missionaries that is the best thing!!! We literally were walking in a ghost town. (Halloween get a ghost town haha)
8. ATE COW LEG!!! There's a soup here called mundungo and its the bane of my existance. It's cow leg and tendons and fat. The broth makes me nauseous. But you know what, you only live in a tiny city in Mexico once right? I can eat everything.
9. Showed some Mexicans that this gringo can actually do some manual labor! IN CHURCH CLOTHES!!! I cut some fire wood for someone. And they were all very surprised that I was able to do that.
I was reading this week in Enos, I feel like Enos is just like us. Our parents teach us right or sometimes they don't (MINE TAUGHT ME EVERYTHING THAT WAS RIGHT, ALTHOUGH I'M STUPID AND MESS UP) but we still mess up, but we can listen to the example of Enos,
1 Behold, it came to pass that I, aEnos, knowing my father that bhe was a just man—for he ctaught me in his language, and also in the dnurture and admonition of the Lord—and blessed be the name of my God for it—
2 And I will tell you of the awrestle which I had before God, before I received a bremission of my sins.
3 Behold, I went to hunt beasts in the forests; and the words which I had often heard my father speak concerning eternal life, and the ajoy of the saints, bsunk deep into my heart.
I love this because we can kneel before God and ask to be forgiven and God will forgive us!!!! JUST ASK!!!
Love you all!!!
Elder Cheney
