Hola mis amigos!!!
how was your christmas?!?! BECAUSE MINE WAS THE FREAKING BEST!!
Being a missionary during christmas is the freaking best honestly, I thought I would be a lot more sad than I was but it was great (Sorry family). But this week was great. Here in Mexico the 24th is bigger than actual christmas. So no one was in their house and I mean no one. So we went and bought a bunch of cookies and goodies for the kids and families of our branch. Then we went on our jolly ole way and became santa claus. It was great.
So here they do a huge futbol (Soccer) tournament in the center of the village. So all the men and women go to watch. So we went with some of the members to watch soccer. We had a pretty good time drinking pepsi and watch some soccer. But of course we couldn't stay forever so we left and did some more visits.
So one family invited us to eat with them and they gave us chicken and pico de gayo but with shrimp in it, we ate so much!!! Also we had ponche and also a great dessert of apples and lechera(the best thing in the world and i dont know why the states doesnt have it)
Miracle- So we left a book of mormon on a taxi that drove us into our area, and the next day a woman on a motorcycle stopped us and asked I think you guys left a book in the taxi of my husband? We told her yep but its for you guys!!!
So lets see what happens from that.
So none of our investigators have been n their house, and I literally mean none of them. So we have done a lot of visits with less actives and recent converts. Its been so great because they always tell us that their days so much better when we show up. When we brought them some cookies their kids were so happy because that was probably the only gift that they got this year.
This week I have just been wondering about the question why? Haha its a little weird I know but, I wonder why do bad things happen, why do people not want to come closer to christ, why dont people want to make commitments. WHY? You know why? BECAUSE ITS NOT EASY!!! God didnt send us here to have a easy life, he sent us here to be challenged. Something a sister says a lot her that Elder Holland said, if it wasnt easy for christ why do we think it should be easy for us!! We just need to rely on our faith and push through! ITS NOT GONNA BE EASY!!! But christ suffered for us so we could get through the hard times. Just always remember you are a disciple of christ. HE HAS CALLED YOU!!!
3 Nephi 5:13
13 He aquĆ, soy discĆpulo de Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios. He sido llamado por Ć©l para declarar su palabra entre los de su pueblo, a fin de que alcancen la vida sempiterna.
13 Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been acalled of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A MISSIONARY TO SHARE HIS GOSPEL!! Leave your house and do the Lords' work.
Love ya tons
Elder Cheney
hope that your news was amazing!!! This week was cray week,
1. We had two families invited us over for new years dinner! I had tamales, chicken, and cow!! It was pretty great night! I also got a great night sleep from 10.30 to 6.30!! Only distrbed a little at 12 when the fireworks went off.
2. Had two great lessons with Aaron, he is a contact that we found, he has a couple disease where he cant walk very well and his arms dont have much strength. But he knows his stuff about the bible!! But we taught him about the restoration and also the plan of salvation! He was really happy when we taught hm something he didnt know! But he also asked us to write every scripture from the bible that had to do with these topics so he could then study them in depth!
3. HNA: KARINA HAS HER TEMPLE RECOMMEND SHE IS READY TO GO TO THE TEMPLE!!
4. Our branch pres gave us a reference from the good old United States of America!! Its a family whose dad is working in the States and he is meeting with the missionaries and wants his family to know the church so we went to visit this family. Reyna Isabel and her family are so great!! We taught the restoration and she had so many great questions!
5. We found out our transfers and sadly I did not survive them. I am heading Vista Hermosa in Tapachula. Which i 13 hour bus ride from my area, so please pray for me as I head out there tomorrow! But it was sad saying good bye to all my members and the investigators, I felt bad but the testimony sunday turned into saying goodbye to Elder Cheney. I felt so much love from these amazing people!
I read this scripture in 1 Timothy 1, 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath aenabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13 Who was before a ablasphemer, and a bpersecutor, and cinjurious: but I obtained dmercy, because I did it eignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the agrace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful asaying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to bsave csinners; of whom I am chief.
After reading this it made me think that I am so thankful that Jesus Christ has put me into his ministry and that he trusts me to spread his gospel! WE ARE SINNERS!!! But repentance is a process that everyone needs, even the apostles. Repent and be his servant! He is grateful he has a servant like you!!
Love you all!
Elder Cheney
